About Uraeginthus cyanocephalus (Richmond, 1897)

The blue-capped cordon-bleu, also spelled blue-capped cordonbleu, has the scientific name Uraeginthus cyanocephalus. It is native to Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, and Tanzania in East Africa. This small finch fares fairly well in captivity when kept in adequate conditions, but breeding this species is reported to be quite difficult. The blue-capped cordon-bleu lives in subtropical or tropical lowland dry grasslands, shrublands, and deserts across sub-Saharan Africa. It has an estimated global extent of occurrence of 390,000 square kilometers.
