About Ufeus satyricus Grote, 1873

Ufeus satyricus is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It is distributed across central and southern Canada, ranging from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast, in areas where large poplar trees grow. In the eastern part of its range, it extends as far south as Pennsylvania and Illinois. In the western part of its range, it extends as far south as southern Arizona and California. The forewing length of this species measures 15–22 mm for males and 19–24 mm for females. Adult moths emerge from pupae during the summer and overwinter in their adult form. Most adult specimens are collected between late August and early May, and they can even be found during mild periods in mid-winter. The majority of recorded sightings occur in October and November during fall, and in March and April during spring. Larvae of Ufeus satyricus have been recorded feeding on cottonwood.
