About Tylospilus acutissimus (Stål, 1870)

Tylospilus acutissimus, commonly known as the Northern sharp stink bug, is a species of stink bug. This species is omnivorous, feeding on both plants and other insects. Its geographic range extends from the southwestern United States down to Colombia. The core of its range covers the area from Southern California to Eastern Texas and Mexico, with occasional documented records from Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas. Sightings of Tylospilus acutissimus mostly occur between April and November, with two peaks in occurrence: one in April to May, and a second in September to November. Adult individuals of this species measure between 9 mm and 10 mm (0.35 inches to 0.39 inches) in size.
