About Tylopsis lilifolia (Fabricius, 1793)
Adult males of Tylopsis lilifolia grow 13 to 22 millimeters (0.51 to 0.87 inches) long, while adult females reach 16 to 23 millimeters (0.63 to 0.91 inches) in length. This species has two distinct color forms. The basic body color ranges from olive green or pale green to light brown, with a brown-yellow longitudinal band running along the back. The head, legs, and wings are green. The legs are long and thin, with small spines. The antennae are very long, reaching up to five times the length of the body. The ovipositor measures around 4 to 5 millimeters (0.16 to 0.20 inches) long and curves upward. A brown body form of this species is common in dry grasslands. This species occurs primarily in southern Europe, and is widespread across the Mediterranean region. It can also be found in Lebanon, Israel, and the Caucasus. It mainly lives in sunny meadows, shrubs, and forest clearings.
