About Turdus pelios Bonaparte, 1850
The African Thrush (Turdus pelios Bonaparte, 1850) has dark olive-grey upperparts. On its underparts, the side of the throat is whitish with evenly distributed brown streaks. The breast is greyish brown, and the flanks are pale buff-orange; this colour does not extend to the lower breast. The belly and vent are white, and the bill is yellow-orange. This species weighs between 46 and 78 g (1.6โ2.8 oz) and has a total length of 21โ23 cm (8.3โ9.1 in). Its distribution range extends from Senegal and Gambia in the west eastward to South Sudan, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, and southward to northwestern Zambia and western Angola. It occurs in a wide variety of wooded habitats, including forest edges, riparian woodland, scrub cultivation, parks, and gardens.
