About Turdoides jardineii (A.Smith, 1836)
The arrow-marked babbler, Turdoides jardineii (A.Smith, 1836), is a medium-sized babbler species. It measures 22 to 25 cm (8.7–9.8 in) in length and weighs 56 to 85 g (2.0–3.0 oz). The species gets its common name from the features of its plumage: it is brownish-grey on its upper body and lighter on its lower body, with white tips on the feathers of the throat, neck, and head. The outer iris of the arrow-marked babbler is bright red, while the inner iris is bright yellow or orange. Mature males and females have identical external appearance. Juveniles have brown eyes and less distinct arrow-shaped streaking on the breast.
