About Turbo sandwicensis Pease, 1861
This species, Turbo sandwicensis Pease, 1861, has a shell that measures between 15 mm and 45 mm in length. The shell is ovately turbinated, slightly perforated, somewhat tubulous, and marked with spiral ridges. The ridges are smooth, with alternately sized smaller ridges that are squamose (scaly). The scales are most prominent on the body whorl, which is somewhat angulated along its upper portion. The interstices between the ridges are finely laminated in an imbricate pattern. The shell is green, with a marbled, variegated color pattern of dark brownish red. This species is found in the Pacific Ocean off Hawaii. It inhabits the shallow coastal waters of the Hawaiian Islands, and can be found under rocks at a depth of approximately 60 ft (18 m).
