About Tritomegas bicolor (Linnaeus, 1758)

Tritomegas bicolor, commonly known as the pied shield bug, is a species of burrowing bug. Adult individuals of this species are black and white, and measure between 5.5 and 7 mm (0.22โ€“0.28 in) in length. This species can be found across North Africa, Europe, and Central Asia. In the British Isles, it grows rarer moving toward the north, and it is completely absent from Scotland and Ireland. T. bicolor primarily lives on the ground, but can also be seen on its host plants, which are mainly Lamium, also called dead nettles, and Ballota nigra, also called black horehound.
