About Trithemis furva Karsch, 1899

Scientific name: Trithemis furva Karsch, 1899

Identification: Across most areas where this species occurs, mature male Trithemis furva are easily confused with mature males of the closely similar species Trithemis dorsalis. The main distinguishing feature between the two species is the shape of the hamule of the secondary genitalia. Additionally, for most specimens of T. furva, the outermost antenodal cross-veins do not cross the subcostal vein to connect to the radial vein, while this crossing does occur in T. dorsalis.
