About Triteleia crocea (Alph.Wood) Greene
Triteleia crocea is a perennial herb that grows from a corm. This species produces two or three leaves, each reaching up to 40 centimeters long and 1 centimeter wide. An inflorescence grows from an erect stem that can be up to 30 centimeters tall, forming an umbel-like cluster of many individual flowers. Each flower is held on a slender pedicel. Most flowers of this species are bright yellow, though some specimens collected from the Trinity Mountains have light blue corollas. Flowers may also have green stripes. The corolla has six lobes that measure 0.5 to 1 centimeter long, plus six stamens that bear yellow or blue anthers. Triteleia crocea blooms during May and June. This plant is native to northern California, with its range extending into southern Oregon. It grows in the Klamath Mountains and on the southernmost slopes of the Cascade Range, and one of its known habitats is Yellow pine forests.
