About Tristerix aphyllus (Miers ex DC.) Tiegh. ex Barlow & Wiens

Tristerix aphyllus is a parasitic plant that infects two species of columnar cactus: Echinopsis chiloensis and Eulychnia acida. In its adult stage, only its flowers and fruits are visible, and these structures emerge dramatically from its cactus host. Mauseth (2011) published a discussion of the morphological and anatomical effects that T. aphyllus has on the cactus Echinopsis chiloensis.
