About Trisateles emortualis (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775

Scientific name: Trisateles emortualis (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775

Technical description and variation: Previously classified as A. emortualis Schiff. (synonym olivaria Bkh.). Forewings are pale ochreous, finely dusted with brown. The inner and outer lines are whitish ochreous and nearly straight, with a similarly colored streak at the end of the cell. Hindwings are similar in appearance to forewings, but lack the inner line. In the aberration consonalis Spul., the inner line of the forewing is absent. In the aberration fascialis Spul., the median area of the forewings and the basal area of the hindwings are conspicuously darkened by grey scales. Fully grown larvae are yellowish brown, with a dark brown dorsal line, black subdorsal lines, and black tubercles. The head is small and round, reddish brown with a black rim. The wingspan of adults ranges from 29 to 35 mm.
