About Triphysaria versicolor Fisch. & C.A.Mey.
Triphysaria versicolor is an annual herb that grows a green or yellowish stem reaching a maximum height of around 60 centimeters. Like many other species in its family, it is a facultative root parasite that attaches to the roots of other plants using haustoria to draw nutrients. Its leaves can grow up to 8 centimeters long, and are split into a small number of narrow, pointed lobes. The plant produces flowers in a dense spike inflorescence. Each individual flower has a white corolla between 1 and 2 centimeters long. The corolla features a beak-shaped upper lip with a yellow tinge, and a wider lower lip that is divided into three pouches. Purple spots may be present on the underside of the lower lip.
