About Trinchesia caerulea (Montagu, 1804)

This species, Trinchesia caerulea, typically grows to 10–15 mm in length, with a maximum recorded length of 26 mm. It was first described from Devon, England. Confirmed reports place it in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean from Norway south to Portugal, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea. Records of this species from Brazil and Florida are thought to actually refer to a different species. It can be found in habitats ranging from the intertidal zone down to a depth of 270 m. Trinchesia caerulea feeds on hydroids that belong to the genus Sertularella.
