About Trimeresurus sabahi Regenass & Kramer, 1981
Adults of Trimeresurus sabahi can reach a snout-vent length (SVL) of 62 cm (24 inches). The dorsal body is uniformly green with no crossbars, while the ventral body is pale green. A narrow two-colored stripe runs along the first one and a half dorsal scale rows: in males, the lower portion of the stripe is rust-colored or red, and the upper portion is white; in females, the entire stripe is yellow or white. The eye iris is red or orange in adult individuals of both sexes, though it may be yellowish-green in young specimens. There are no distinct markings behind the eye. Scalation characteristics include 21 (occasionally 23) rows of dorsal scales at midbody; 149โ157 ventral scales in males, 148โ156 in females, with an overall range of 148โ159; 72โ76 subcaudal scales in males, 59โ65 in females; and 9โ11 supralabial scales, most commonly 9โ10 with the third supralabial being the largest. On the island of Borneo, this species lives in mountainous areas at elevations between 1,000 m (3,300 ft) and 1,150 m (3,770 ft), where it is typically found on shrub branches and other low-growing vegetation. The reproductive biology of Trimeresurus sabahi has not been documented.
