About Trimeresurus insularis Kramer, 1977
This species, Trimeresurus insularis Kramer, 1977, has the following scalation characteristics: 21 rows of dorsal scales at midbody, 156โ164 ventral scales in males and 156โ167 ventral scales in females, 70โ75 subcaudal scales in males and 54โ59 subcaudal scales in females, and 7โ12 supralabial scales. Its color pattern is most commonly green or blue-green, and some specific populations also have yellow variants. This species is native to Indonesia, where it occurs on eastern Java, Adonara, Alor, Bali, Flores, Komodo, Lombok, Padar, Rinca, Romang, Rote, Sumba, Sumbawa, Timor, and Wetar, and it is also found in Timor-Leste. Its type locality is recorded as "Soe, Timor". It is an arboreal species that inhabits dry monsoon forests, and can be found at elevations up to 1,200 m (3,900 ft) above sea level.
