Trimeresurus gumprechti, also known as Gumprecht's green pit viper, is an arboreal snake with a striking bright green coloration. A photograph of this species was selected as the cover image for the 2008 World Wildlife Fund report titled "First Contact in the Greater Mekong: New Species Discoveries." Adult individuals of this species can reach a total length of 1.3 meters (4.3 feet), including the tail. This species is geographically distributed in southern China's Yunnan province, as well as Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its preferred natural habitat is forest, found at altitudes ranging from 300 meters to 1,570 meters, which is 980 feet to 5,150 feet. Trimeresurus gumprechti reproduces via viviparity, meaning it gives birth to live young instead of laying eggs.
