About Trillium vaseyi Harb.

Trillium vaseyi Harb. produces some of the largest flowers of any species in the genus Trillium. Its petals are red and can grow up to 7 centimeters long. This plant grows in rich woodlands; it can be found growing on riverbanks in some locations and on steep slopes in others. Trillium vaseyi is endemic to the Southeastern United States. Its populations are primarily centered in the southern Appalachian Mountains, within the states of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. One separate disjunct population is also recorded in Lee County, Alabama.
