Trillium simile Gleason is a perennial plant that flowers in spring. This species is endemic to the southeastern United States. It grows in the southern Appalachian Mountains, within the U.S. states of Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. It prefers moist, humus-rich soils located at the edges of Rhododendron thickets in mature forests. It can be found at elevations between 500 and 700 meters, which is 1,600 to 2,300 feet.
