About Trigonophora flammea Esper, 1785
Technical description and variation: The wingspan of Trigonophora flammea Esper, 1785 measures 44–52 mm. Its forewing is purplish grey brown, with grey dominating the basal area. The median area is velvety blackish between the subcostal vein and vein 1. The claviform stigma is velvety black, followed by an elongated patch of the base ground colour along the black vein 2. The orbicular stigma is reddish grey, oval and flattened, with a pale annulus. The reniform stigma is very large, cream white, and contains two grey lines, angled acutely inwards along the median vein. The inner margin is diffusely creamy white, with a long black streak above it starting from near the base. The submarginal line is paler than the ground colour, and is followed by a dark cloud. The hindwing is shining luteous, brownish in its outer half, and has a large dark cellspot, dark veins, and a dark outer line.
