About Trifolium gymnocarpon Nutt.

Trifolium gymnocarpon Nutt. is a small perennial herb. Its stems spread along the ground, forming a flat mat or clump. Each leaf is composed of 3 hairy, serrated leaflets. A relatively common genetic mutation in this species can occasionally produce clovers with 4 or 5 leaflets. Its inflorescence is an umbel of flowers that spread out or bend downward. Individual flowers are roughly one centimeter long, and are dull pink or brownish in color.
