About Trifolium dubium Sibth.

Trifolium dubium Sibth., commonly known as lesser trefoil, suckling clover, little hop clover, or lesser hop trefoil, is a flowering plant belonging to Fabaceae, the pea and clover family. This species is generally accepted as the main plant that represents the traditional Irish shamrock. It is native to Europe, but now occurs as an introduced species in many other regions across the world. It is thought to be an allotetraploid with a chromosome count of 2n=32, which originated from the cross between Trifolium campestre and Trifolium micranthum.
