About Trifolium angustifolium L.
Trifolium angustifolium L. is an erect-growing annual herb. Its leaves are split into narrow leaflets that range from linear to lance-shaped, and grow up to 4.5 centimeters long. The leaves have stipules tipped with bristles, and the entire plant's herbage has a hairy texture. Its inflorescence is a cylindrical spike of flowers between 1 and 5 centimeters long. Each flower has a calyx made of sepals with long, hairy, needle-like lobes that harden into bristles as the plant dries. Inside each calyx is a pink corolla around one centimeter long. This species is native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and grows in many habitat types including disturbed areas. It can be found as an introduced species outside its native range, and is an invasive species in parts of North America such as California.
