About Triclonella pergandeella Busck, 1900

Triclonella pergandeella, commonly known as the sweetclover root borer moth, is a moth species that belongs to the family Cosmopterigidae. This species is found in the United States, with confirmed recorded occurrences in the District of Columbia, and across the region ranging from Arkansas to Florida, as well as in Louisiana and Texas. The adult moth has a wingspan of approximately 14 mm. Adult individuals have been recorded in flight from March through October. The larvae of Triclonella pergandeella feed on plant species from the genera Lespedeza and Clitoria. When larvae reach their full grown stage, they attain a length of approximately 12 mm, and their heads are yellow in color.
