About Trichostema arizonicum A.Gray
Trichostema arizonicum, commonly called Arizona bluecurls, is a perennial plant that belongs to the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to the Southwestern United States, specifically Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as to northwestern Mexico. This species produces distinctive curling flowers, and it can often be found growing alongside roadsides. The genus name Trichostema translates to "hair stems", a name chosen in reference to the plant's graceful stamens; these stamens curve around to dab pollen onto the backs of insect pollinators.
