Trichordestra legitima, commonly called the striped garden caterpillar moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species was first formally described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1864. It is distributed across eastern North America, with a range extending from Newfoundland to Florida in the east, west to Texas, and north to Saskatchewan.
