About Trichilogaster acaciaelongifoliae (Froggatt, 1892)

Trichilogaster acaciaelongifoliae is an Australian bud-galling wasp that belongs to the family Melanosomellidae. This wasp parasitises multiple plant species, one of which is Acacia longifolia, commonly called long-leaved wattle or Sydney golden wattle. Acacia longifolia has become an invasive pest in several countries. Trichilogaster acaciaelongifoliae was introduced to South Africa in 1985 and to Portugal in 2015, and it has been used successfully as a biological control agent to manage invasive Acacia longifolia.
