The Malayan swamp babbler, previously known as the white-chested babbler, is a species of ground babbler in the family Pellorneidae. This species is distributed across the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, the Riau Islands, the Lingga Islands, and the island of Belitung. It was formerly classified as conspecific with the Bornean swamp babbler. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. The Malayan swamp babbler is threatened by habitat loss. The scientific name of this species is Trichastoma rostratum Blyth, 1842, and it is also referenced under the synonym Pellorneum rostratum.
