About Trapania palmula Gosliner & Fahey, 2008

This species of Trapania, Trapania palmula, is unusual because it has raised rounded tubercles covering its entire body. Its body is translucent white, with dense brown speckling and some larger brown patches. The lateral papillae have a white patch that surrounds a blue diagonal streak. This species was first described from specimens collected in Luzon, Philippines. It is also known to occur in Indonesia and southern Japan. In its ecosystem, Trapania palmula feeds on Entoprocta, a group of organisms that commonly grow on sponges and other living substrates.
