Trachylepis capensis is a species of skink, which is a type of lizard belonging to the family Scincidae. This species is native to southern Africa. T. capensis is indigenous to South Africa, where it can be found across most of the country. It is also present in Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia. A small number of isolated, likely relict populations of T. capensis have been recorded in Zimbabwe.
