About Trachycephalus resinifictrix (Goeldi, 1907)

These frogs are fairly large, reaching 2.5 to 4.0 inches (6.4 to 10.2 cm) in total length. Adult individuals are light grey with brown or black banding, while juvenile frogs have stronger color contrast between their markings. As the frogs age, their skin develops a slightly bumpy texture. Their blood has a blue tint that can show through the skin, most noticeably in the mouth area and toe pads. The "milk" in this species' common name refers to the milky fluid the frogs excrete when they are stressed. This species, the Mission golden-eyed tree frog, lives in the tropical rainforests of South America, with widespread populations across Guyana, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru. They most often occupy vegetation that grows over permanent, slow-moving water sources.
