Adults of Trachemys gaigeae have a straight carapace length that ranges from 5 to 11 inches, which equals 13 to 28 cm. This species is native to the United States, specifically the states of New Mexico and Texas, and to northern Mexico in the state of Chihuahua. It is primarily found in the Rio Grande and Rio Concho.
