About Tlascala reductella Walker, 1863

Tlascala is a monotypic snout moth genus that was described by George Duryea Hulst in 1890. The genus contains only one species: Tlascala reductella, commonly called the Tlascala moth. This species was originally described by Francis Walker in 1863. The species is found in North America, where it has been recorded from Florida, ranging north to Illinois and Kentucky, and also occurs in Ontario. It has additionally been recorded from Honduras. The wingspan of Tlascala reductella is approximately 20 mm (0.79 in). Adult moths have been recorded flying from February through September, with the majority of sightings falling between April and July.
