Tinodes waeneri (Linnaeus, 1758) is a small insect species. Adult individuals have a total body length of 5–9 mm, with a forewing length that is most often 6–9 mm. Their forewings are reddish-brown with darker veins; the overall body colour is typically light reddish-brown. The species' hindwings are narrow, and their front edge is slightly notched toward the tip. Adult Tinodes waeneri are often attracted to light, and can most commonly be observed between May and September. This species is commonly distributed across Central and Western Europe, and also occurs in parts of Northern and Southern Europe. It lives in clean freshwater environments including streams, rivers, pools, and lakes, and is often found near these water bodies.
