About Timalia pileata Horsfield, 1821
The chestnut-capped babbler, with the scientific name Timalia pileata Horsfield, 1821, is a medium-sized babbler that measures 15.5 to 17 cm in length. It has a fairly long, wedge-shaped tail and a thick, black bill. Its plumage is solid unbarred brown, with distinct characteristic markings on its head: a chestnut-coloured crown, a black eye mask, that contrast against a white forehead and white eyebrow line. This species is native to Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. The westernmost point of its distribution is located at Sukla Phanta Wildlife Reserve in Nepal.
