About Tillus elongatus (Linnaeus, 1758)

Tillus elongatus is a species of checkered beetle that belongs to the family Cleridae. It is found in the Palearctic realm. In its German common name Holzbuntkäfer, the word "Holz" refers to this beetle's association with wood. Tillus elongatus can grow up to 1 centimeter in length, but it is rarely seen by people, because it mostly lives hidden inside tree wood. Male and female Tillus elongatus have different coloration. The species is widespread across Western Europe, though occurrence data is missing for some countries in the region. Its presence in Eastern Europe is currently uncertain.
