About Tillandsia simulata Small

Tillandsia simulata, commonly called the Florida airplant or Manatee River airplant, is a plant species endemic to Florida. This species is an epiphyte that grows on the branches of various trees and shrubs across the region, mostly in swamps and other moist locations. Tillandsia simulata can be identified by its narrowly elliptic leaf sheath, which reaches up to 2 cm wide. It produces inflorescences that grow up to 15 cm (6 inches) long, bearing rose-colored bracts and prominent violet flowers.
