About Tillandsia fasciculata Sw.

Tillandsia fasciculata Sw. is a bromeliad species that is commonly known by the common names giant airplant, giant wild pine, and cardinal airplant. It is native to Central America, Mexico, the West Indies, northern South America (including Venezuela, Colombia, Suriname, French Guiana, and northern Brazil), and the southeastern United States (specifically Georgia and Florida). In the United States, this airplant is at risk of extirpation due to the Mexican bromeliad weevil, Metamasius callizona. A related species, Tillandsia utriculata, which is sometimes called "wild pine", is endemic to the same geographic areas.
