About Tiliqua multifasciata Sternfeld, 1919

The Centralian blue-tongue (Tiliqua multifasciata Sternfeld, 1919) has a very robust build, a short body, and a slender tail. It falls among the largest 1% of all species in the skink family Scincidae. Both its forelimbs and hindlimbs have five digits each. This blue-tongued skink is distributed across the far north-west corner of New South Wales and South Australia, and through central areas of Western Australia, the Northern Territory, and Queensland. It generally inhabits a range of arid and semi-arid stony and red sandy areas vegetated with spinifex. Along with the other five species in its genus, the Centralian blue-tongued skink is viviparous. A single litter can contain between two and 10 live young.
