About Thymus lotocephalus G.López & R.Morales

Thymus lotocephalus G.López & R.Morales, commonly called erva-ursa in Portuguese, is a flowering plant species belonging to the mint family Lamiaceae. It is endemic to southern Portugal, and is found specifically in the central Algarve region. It grows in both coastal and interior areas of the Barrocal region. In coastal areas, it occurs in pine forest clearings and xerophilic scrub, on sandy, acidic substrates. In interior areas, it grows in thyme stands and clearings of xerophilic scrub, on marginal or calcareous substrates that are somewhat decarbonated.
