About Thylacodes sipho (Lamarck, 1818)
Thylacodes sipho (Lamarck, 1818) lives in an irregularly coiled shell that can reach up to 70 mm in length, with a tube diameter between 4 and 10 mm. Its early shell whorls attach to substrates like rocks or shells, and individuals sometimes grow in aggregated groups. This species feeds on organic matter that it traps in mucous strings, and it does not have an operculum. It is endemic to Australia, where it can be found in all coastal Australian states, and it is more common in the southern parts of the country. Its habitat consists of subtidal exposed reefs and rock platforms.
