About Thyene orientalis Żabka, 1985
Thyene orientalis Żabka, 1985 is a medium-sized jumping spider. Males have a total body length of approximately 4.6 mm; the male carapace measures about 2.2 mm long and 1.7 mm wide. Females are similar in size to males, with a total body length around 4.7 mm. The carapace is yellow-brown, and is covered with dense dark and off-white scale-like setae along its submargin. Several pale yellow scale-like setae are located on the clypeus, and a longitudinal, indistinct median yellow band extends across the thorax. The fovea is dark red and longitudinal. Legs range in color from pale to yellow-brown. The abdomen is elongated; its dorsum is darker along the sides, with an irregular longitudinal yellow-brown band in the middle, and the abdomen is covered in dense setae. The abdomen's venter ranges in color from gray-white to brown. This species has been recorded from Japan, China, and Vietnam. In Japan, it was first reported from the Ryukyu Islands in 2013. In China, it has been collected from various provinces and regions, including Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
