About Thyanta pallidovirens (Stål, 1859)

Thyanta pallidovirens, commonly called the red-shouldered stink bug, is a species of stink bug belonging to the family Pentatomidae. This species is native to Central America and North America. For mating-related reproduction, male T. pallidovirens rely on a pheromone blend made up of methyl (E,Z,Z)-2,4,6-decatrienoate and sesquiterpenes to attract female individuals. Both male and female red-shouldered stink bugs also use vibrational signals, also called songs, to attract mates, and each sex is capable of producing two distinct songs.
