About Thermonectus basillaris (Harris, 1829)

Thermonectus basillaris (Harris, 1829) is a species of diving beetle. Its native range covers the eastern United States, southern Ontario in Canada, and Cuba. T. basillaris is a pioneering species that lives in temporary ponds, and individuals readily fly. Adult beetles of this species measure 8.1 to 10.7 millimetres (0.32 to 0.42 inches) in length, and 4.7 to 5.9 millimetres (0.19 to 0.23 inches) in width.
