About Thermobia aegyptiaca (Lucas, 1840)

Thermobia aegyptiaca is a species of silverfish belonging to the family Lepismatidae. Hippolyte Lucas first described this species in 1840, using specimens that had been collected in Egypt. This species is distributed across Africa and the eastern Mediterranean Basin. It has been recorded living in association with the termite species Psammotermes hybostoma. Because the original type specimens were unavailable for later study, a neotype collected from Helwan was designated for this species.
