About Thera juniperata (Linnaeus, 1758)
Thera juniperata (Linnaeus, 1758) The nominate subspecies has a wingspan of 26–29 mm, while smaller subspecies are found in Ireland and Scotland. Its forewings are light brown, marked with a darker shaded band and a very distinctive black apical streak. The hindwings are pale buff. Mature caterpillars grow up to 21 mm in length. They are light green, with an indistinct bluish-green dorsal line. Their also not clearly pronounced dorsolateral lines are greenish or whitish. The broad yellowish-white lateral line has a red border along its upper edge. The caterpillars have rosy legs, and a round, greenish-brown head. The pupa is slender, and ranges in color from light green to grey-brown. It has a relatively short cremaster that bears six hooked bristles.
