About Thalassoma rueppellii (Klunzinger, 1871)

Klunzinger's wrasse, scientifically named Thalassoma rueppellii, is also commonly called Rüppell's wrasse. This species is a ray-finned wrasse that belongs to the family Labridae, and it is endemic to the Red Sea. It lives on reef margins and seaward reef slopes, at depths ranging from 1 to 30 meters (3.3 to 98.4 feet). The species can grow up to 20 centimeters (7.9 inches) in total length, and it is sold in the aquarium trade.
