About Tetratheca bauerifolia F.Muell.
Tetratheca bauerifolia F.Muell., commonly known as heath pink-bells, is a small shrub that reaches up to 30 cm (12 in) in height. It has angled or needle-shaped stems covered in short, bristly, curved or curled hairs that are usually less than 0.5 mm (0.020 in) long. Its leaves are oval to narrow-elliptic in shape, arranged in whorls of 4 to 6 along the branches. The leaves are typically 4โ10 mm (0.16โ0.39 in) long, 2โ3 mm (0.079โ0.118 in) wide, and sessile. Flowers are mostly borne singly on a hooked peduncle, with mauve-pink petals 6โ10 mm (0.24โ0.39 in) long. The sepals are darker, hairless, and 1.5โ2 mm (0.059โ0.079 in) long. Flowering occurs from September to November. The fruit is heart-shaped to roughly wedge-shaped, and measures 5โ8 mm (0.20โ0.31 in) long. This species grows mostly at higher altitudes in eucalypt forests on rocky sites south of Hill End in New South Wales. It is also a widespread species in eastern Victoria, where it usually grows in rocky locations or open forests.
