Tetrapilus dioicus, commonly called rose sandalwood, is a tree species native to the Indian subcontinent, where it occurs in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Myanmar. This species grows to a maximum height of 15 meters, with smooth grey bark and leathery oblong-elliptic leaves. The leaves measure 7 to 12 centimeters long, and have either smooth entire margins or widely spaced serrations. Tetrapilus dioicus produces small greenish-white to pink-tinged flowers that grow in opposite panicles, and it typically blooms between December and March. It bears fleshy, round purplish fruits, and grows in wet tropical regions; documented localities include Khandala and Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra, India.
