About Teratoscincus bedriagai Nikolsky, 1900
Teratoscincus bedriagai, first described by Nikolsky in 1900, is commonly called Bedriaga's wonder gecko or Bedriaga's plate-tailed gecko. It is a small lizard species belonging to the family Sphaerodactylidae, and it is native to Central and Western Asia. Its native geographic range covers the northern and eastern desert basins of Iran's central Plateau, Sistan, and the desert regions of southern Afghanistan extending east as far as Kandahar. When ecological variables for this species were tested, isothermality was found to be the most important factor, contributing 32% to the tested model. The species' preferred natural habitats are desert and shrubland, found at altitudes ranging from 100 meters to 1,400 meters, or 330 feet to 4,590 feet. T. bedriagai reproduces via oviparity.
